Rural Colorado is home to a diverse array of fossil fuel production, large-scale renewable energy development, and backyard and on-farm clean energy. It is served by a mix of investor-owned, municipal, and rural utilities. Socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds vary widely.
This diversity provides a fertile breeding ground for testing new energy ideas. As part of our land-grant mission, CSU Extension ran the Rural Energy Center from 2013-2019 to help rural Colorado make more informed energy decisions. This website archives past projects and sustainable energy information that our audience found valuable over the years.
